West Highland White Terriers

GawainThe Westie is a courageous, devoted, light hearted, hardy dog who needs no pampering. They are strong minded, strong willed, and not afraid of anything. They have a big dog attitude in a little dog body which makes them so fun to be around. It's like they know they make you laugh and will do anything they can to make you happy. They are very intelligent, so with proper training and discipline they will become an awesome companion and a great family pet. Because of their bold nature I do recommend some form of "puppy class" for you and your Westie. This not only benefits your puppy, but it greatly benefits you as an owner. Westies can be very stubborn and it helps when you both have some training. They need firm, but gentle discipline from early on. And they really need to know that you are the "boss" or else they will take charge!

Angel's BabeWesties love to go for walks, but don't require a lot of exercise. And because they are fairly quiet dogs they make perfect companions for town home owners as well as Condo owners. Although they love a good run out in open country, they don't need it daily to be a happy, healthy dog.

A full grown Westie will be about 10-11 inches at the shoulders and weigh about 15 pounds on average. Their coat consists of a soft undercoat and a course outer coat. This is why shedding is very minimal.

A Westie will be a perfect addition to your home if you're ready for some spunk in your life. So contact us if you think a Westie will fill that need.

Cairn Terriers

Sioux and pupThe Cairn terrier is a great little family dog. They are playful and gentle companions. They have lots of energy, but are very well behaved house dogs with good training. It's very important for them to please their owners so they usually respond well to training. They do need firm, but gentle discipline to become that well behaved dog. After all, they are terriers, so they definitely have a mind of their own.

When full grown a Cairn will be about 13-14 pounds and 10-11 inches at the shoulders. Now keep in mind this is just an average. Size can vary. Their coats consist of a double coat. The undercoat is soft and the outer coat is course and wiry. The color of the coat will vary from cream to tan to black and mixtures of those colors.

Avon Terriers

SandmanThe Avon Terrier is a small terrier bred by Westwind Kennel under the auspices of Willow Hill Kennel. It differs from other dogs of its type in that it is bred with only one purpose in mind, excellence as a family companion. It is a hardy family dog that will run and play with zest as well as snuggle up on the couch. Their bubbly, energetic personality is contagious. They love to be with their families and they just adore children.

CozbiThe Avon's average size is 15 to 18 pounds (at two years in good trim), with a few weighing less or more. Height at the shoulder averages 10 to 12 inches, with the majority of both males and females standing at 11-12 inches. Their coat is double, dense and medium length (1 1/2 - 2 inches at maturity) with course, straight or slightly wavy guard hairs and a soft undercoat. The muzzle is densely whiskered, (more so in males) giving it a square appearance. The overall coat is easily maintained with little trimming required. Shedding is minimal with occasional bathing and brushing. The coat color ranges broadly from an occasional white, to cream, to dark brown, or black, with many brindles.
